The American whiskey industry is facing a problem with an excessive number of poor-quality "limited edition" bourbon releases. The demand for these products, driven by consumers' obsession with scarcity and the desire to impress others, has led to a flood of releases that often lack true uniqueness or value. The distilleries and non-distiller producers have capitalized on this hype by creating a constant stream of limited editions, resulting in an overwhelming and confusing market. Consumers must question the worth and quality of these high-priced bottles and consider alternatives to break the cycle and discourage the proliferation of questionable releases in the future.
